I have a pedometer. when I move, not just walking it counts as a step. Is there a way to get a true reading?

My pedometer said made 10670 steps, there is NO way that is accurate. I am trying to get ready for a 5k walk, and I need to see how I will do.

Mine has the same problem. Discounting the number is a way to deal with it (just like you should discount the calories burnt on machines). 5-10% should be ok, unless you enjoying shaking your body a lot.

Wait, there must be better ones on the market!

You can always get a garmin forerunner http://www.garmin.com. They are expensive, though but fairly accurate.

Another way to determine how far you’ve gone is to trace your route using this mapping software…

    Good luck.
