Can you use a pedometer while walking dogs?

I’m interested in buying a pedometer for walking (under $40). I don’t really need anything fancy, just one that will tell me how far I’ve gone distance wise and how many steps I’ve taken. However I have two dogs that I like to walk with. To minimize pulling one uses a chin leader/head collar, and the other a harness. What I need to know is if I can use a pedometer while walking the dogs or if their movement and occasional pulling will interfere with it. Also if you believe I can, can you suggest one that you believe would work well. Thanks

It should be fine. You’re still walking….

The pulling would only minimally effect the pedometer. They’re not 100% accurate anyway but they do give you a pretty good ball park number

I really doubt walking your dogs would mess up your pedometer by much, if at all. With a pedometer you’re counting the numbers in the thousands, so an extra 100 steps are counted from your dog won’t matter much.

I don’t use one currently, but I had known people using from the cheapest McDonald’s pedometer that were sold some time ago, to more fancy ones and they all work the same. You get more features with a higher priced one, but they all work relatively the same with the same goal: to get you off your buns as much as possible. The distance measured is really an estimate, you can calculate yourself as well; 2000 steps = 1 mile.
