Can you use a pedometer while walking dogs?

Posted under Pedometer Information by admin on Saturday 23 January 2010 at 7:57 pm

I’m interested in buying a pedometer for walking (under $40). I don’t really need anything fancy, just one that will tell me how far I’ve gone distance wise and how many steps I’ve taken. However I have two dogs that I like to walk with. To minimize pulling one uses a chin leader/head collar, and the other a harness. What I need to know is if I can use a pedometer while walking the dogs or if their movement and occasional pulling will interfere with it. Also if you believe I can, can you suggest one that you believe would work well. Thanks

Hi, Im trying to lose weight and want a pedometer ( the one that records steps) so i can try reach my goal of 10,000 steps a day..

The problem is i want to wear it to school ( and out and about).. me only being 15 years old i dont want a chunky one that sticks out of my clothes and makes it obvisous..

So could anyone recommend a slim, well hid, preferibily water proof one thats not to dear? and tha I can buy in The goulburn valley area , Victoria ( australia)

I have had cheap ones and they don’t do the right job.

Does a pedometer count the same for walking or running?

I just got a pedometer to track my steps throughout the day, but I want to know if it will work correctly if I jog on the treadmill or do any other kind of fast excercise. I had to input my stride length into the pedometer so it tracks steps specific to me, but if I run, won’t my steps be longer?

I have a pedometer. when I move, not just walking it counts as a step. Is there a way to get a true reading?

My pedometer said made 10670 steps, there is NO way that is accurate. I am trying to get ready for a 5k walk, and I need to see how I will do.

How do you count your walking steps on a pedometer to work right?
